The plot is constantly evolving along with her, and the twist at the end is both fresh and unexpected. Sirscha is an amazing main character, with very raw real conflicting emotions and desires that make her instantly likeable and make for great character development. The relationships between the kingdoms feels flushed out, vivid, and very realistic. One thing I absolutely loved about this book was the world building.

But there is much more to Sirscha than she could ever imagine, and after an incident where she discovers she is not a human, but a shaman, and a powerful one at that, her life will never be the same.

We follow Sirscha, a girl training to become the human queen’s shadow, the highest-level assassin. Forest of Souls takes place in a divided kingdom where the three groups, shamans, shadow born, and humans share an uneasy peace, united only by the powerful Spider King who defeated the evil Soulless many years before when he almost destroyed everything.
